Our Latest Statement: December 11, 2020
We received notification today that someone from our congregation tested positive for the Covid-19 virus. This person did not contract the virus when attending our worship service, but the person was among us this past Sunday, December 6. Thankfully, this person is not experiencing any symptoms other than loss of taste and smell. We pray that continues and for complete recovery.
Accordingly, we have decided to cancel our in-person worship service for this Sunday, December 13 (our youth group Christmas party will also be postponed for one week -- see below). This will allow for almost two full weeks of time between when any possible exposure may have occurred and our next scheduled service. For this Sunday, we will post online two worship songs and a special message by Pastor Rich. These will be available on our website, our Facebook page, and our YouTube channel.
We've always understood that someone in our midst would end up with this virus. And yes, we take it seriously. Many people have contracted the virus and too many have died. But the vast majority experience only mild symptoms or none at all. However, we believe it is very important that we continue meeting as a church family. Going forward we will continue with the same policy we've had before. We'd love to have you join us for in-person worship services. The choice of wearing a mask for you and your family will continue to be up to your discretion. If you are medically compromised, consider worshiping with us online (our online worship services will continue as before).
Our plan is to be back to our normal schedule the following Sunday, December 20, with a few adjustments. See the schedule below:
Sunday, December 20 at 10 am . . . . . . Sunday Worship & Children's Christmas Program
-- the Children's Program will be scaled back due to the loss of practice time (there will be no practice on Saturday, December 19 as had been previously planned -- all of the kids should still be able to participate -- they will start the service downstairs for a last minute run through).
Sunday, December 20 at 5 pm . . . . . . . . . . . . Taproot Youth Group Christmas Party
-- it was originally planned for this Sunday, Dec. 13 but is now moved to Sunday, Dec. 20 -- we will have pizza and breadsticks, dessert, games, a White Elephant gift exchange, and, of course, an ugly Christmas sweater contest.
Sunday, December 20 at 5 pm . . . . . . . . . . . . Christmas Caroling
-- this will now take place at the same time as the youth group Christmas party.
Thursday, December 24 at 5 pm . . . . . . . . . . . Christmas Eve Service
-- join us for our annual reflective celebration of the birth of our Savior!
Thank you for understanding these difficult decisions. Please contact Pastor Rich or Pastor Tom if you have any questions or concerns.
